1967 Shelby Group II Race Car

Vehicle Details

The first of the 26 total Shelby Racing Co. Mustang Group II FIA-GT SCCA Trans Am race cars. This Shelby was purchased by George Kirksley, and tested by Jerry Titus and Chuck Cantwell prior to its delivery at the Sebring Trans-Am race in 1967.

It was driven by Freddie Van Beuren Jr. and Donald Sesslar during that race. It was also driven by Alan Moffat at the SCCA National Race at Watkins Glen in 1967. With full documentation, this Shelby race car was restored to exacting period authenticity, and has since won the coveted Shelby American Automotive Club Division 1 Concours Gold Award at SAAC 34 in 2009.

It’s powered by a 305ci 8-cylinder engine with dual 4-barrel carburetors mated to a BorgWarner 4-speed manual transmission and a Ford 9” rear end. It is correct throughout and is signed by Chuck Cantwell, Bernie Kretchmar and Carroll Shelby. FIA papers, a Marti Report and SVRA medallion are included.
